Howler Monkey Belize

The black howler monkey (Alouatta pigra) is known as “baboon” in Creole or “saraguate” in Spanish. They are found in Belize, southern Mexico, and Guatemala but their population is dwindling. They are named howler for their ferocious voice which marks their territory up to a mile away.

Roselle

Bright red petals surround the seed pod, suggesting a cranberry like taste. Roselle fruits are harvested fresh and their calyces are made into a delicious tea rich in Vitamin C. Roselle tea may also reduce cholesterol and improve circulation. It is also used to make wine and jelly.
